Died in Bainbridge, Dec 4, 1880, Hercules Ellis, aged 49 years 10 months 29 days.  The life of the deceased was spent in the mercantile business and the Christian Ministry. His untiring energy in both callings gave a reasonable degree of success. He was married in 1853 to Elizabeth Bridges, daughter of Moses T. Bridges. His companion preceded him to the better world Aug 26, 1878. He was again married on the 25th of February 1880 to Mrs. SA Kendall. The disease which caused his death attacked him on the night of the 24th of November. During the days that followed he spoke calmly of his approaching death, always showing the utmost confidence in Christ as his Savior. Much of that time was spent in religious devotion. Indeed, he died just as he lived – in full expectation of the joys that were to come.  Business men will miss him. A vacancy has been made in his church, but the loss is greatest to those dearest to him his own family circle. The funeral was preached at the family residence on Sunday Dec 5 by Elder WR Davison of the Christian Union church. A large number of friends and relatives were present on the occasion. - these obituaries were transcribed by karen zach
